Lower Thames Crossing apprentices

Lower Thames Crossing Delivery Partner, Balfour Beatty, are looking for local school leavers and adult learners to join the project this September as business administration apprentices.

These advanced level three apprentices will play a key role in supporting the project team, while undertaking 18 months of work-based learning on the biggest investment in the country’s road network for a generation.

As a Balfour Beatty apprentice, they will have the opportunity to work for one of the UK’s leading construction companies, and can expect a huge amount of learning, two salary reviews per year and the possibility of either further education or full-time employment upon completion of the apprenticeship.

In January, Balfour Beatty was awarded the Roads North of the Thames contract, to design and build around 10 miles of new road north of the Thames in Thurrock up to Junction 29 of the M25 in the London Borough of Havering.

"This is a really exciting opportunity for local people to kick-start their career with Balfour Beatty and gain invaluable experience on a major infrastructure programme from the very beginning..."
Iain Sutherland, Balfour Beatty Project Director

Iain Sutherland, Balfour Beatty Project Director, said:

“This is a really exciting opportunity for local people to kick-start their career with Balfour Beatty and gain invaluable experience on a major infrastructure programme from the very beginning.

I’m delighted as these roles mark the first of many with Balfour Beatty and we’ll be supporting these apprentices every step of the way to help shape their future with us.”

The deadline for applications is Friday 7 July 2023.
Apply now.

During construction of the new road, the project will provide hundreds of new apprenticeship opportunities from intermediate to degree level and ranging from site-based roles such as steel fixers and electricians, to office-based ones like administration, accounting and engineering.
