Work to install new sections of steel barrier in the eastbound and westbound verges to improve safety between junction 33 (Ferrybridge) and junction 34 (A19 Selby junction). The scheme will also include improvements to verge drainage and maintenance.
There will be some disruption to traffic between junctions 33 and 34 of the M62 during this project. Both the eastbound and westbound carriageways will have a 50mph temporary speed restriction in place, which will be enforced by average speed cameras in order to protect both the workforce and road users.
The hard shoulder and one lane of the carriageway will be closed to traffic 24/7 during the works with narrow lane running in operation. The first phase of the works will be on the eastbound carriageway up until Christmas then the work will switch to the westbound carriageway up until the anticipated completion in May 2019. Work will be carried out on one side of the motorway at a time.
For some aspects of the work, the M62 will be closed overnight both eastbound and westbound (on separate occasions) with clearly signed diversion routes in place.
