M5 junction 6 to junction 9 lighting upgrade

Guy Harrington

We’ll be upgrading the lighting on the M5 between junction 6 and junction 9. This work will bring the lighting up to current standards, using new technology. The new lighting will be more efficient and more reliable.

To minimise disruption, we’ll carry out this work overnight. The M5 will be open as normal during the day.

From January to March 2019 we’ll work using lane closures, which will be localised to the area we’re working in. This will move as the work progresses along the M5.

From the end of March 2019, we’ll need a series of closures of the entry and exit slips at junction 6 and junction 7. These will be done in four phases:

Phase 1

M5 junction 6 northbound exit slip and entry slip. Lane closures will also be in place on the roundabout and also on entrances to the roundabout.

Phase 2

M5 junction 6 southbound exit slip and entry slip. Lane closures will also be in place on the roundabout and also on entrances to the roundabout.

Phase 3

M5 junction 7 northbound exit slip and entry slip. Lane closures will also be in effect on the roundabout and also on entrances to the roundabout.

Phase 4

M5 junction 6 southbound exit slip and entry slip. Lane closures will also be in place on the roundabout and also on entrances to the roundabout.
