A49 Salwey Arms junction improvement

Theresa Morley

Works to improve the junction including widening, resurfacing, new road markings and a new right turn facility to access Wyson Lane.

Works will also include the replacement, removal and installation of a number of signs, and a reduction of the speed limit to 50mph to improve safety.

To minimise disruption works will take place overnight. There will be no traffic management during the day.

3-way temporary traffic lights will be in place to manage traffic across the junction during the overnight works.

We’ll need to fully close the A49 at night in two phases:

Phase 1: From A4117 Rocks Green Roundabout to A456 Woofferton junction

Diversion route:

  • Northbound Traffic – Leave the A49 at Woofferton junction and turn right onto the A456. Continue for approx.14 miles. At Pound Bank/Callow Hill (signed for Cleobury), turn left onto the A4117. Re-join the A49 at Rocks Green Roundabout.
  • Southbound Traffic – Leave the A49 at Rocks Green Roundabout, turning left onto the A4117. Turn right onto A456 at Pound Bank/Callow Hill. Re-join the A49 at Woofferton junction.

Phase 2: From A456 Woofferton junction to A44 Mill Street (OK Diner) Roundabout

Diversion route:

  • Northbound Traffic – Leave the A49 at the A49/A44 Mill Street (‘OK Diner’) Roundabout, turning left onto the A44. Then turn right at the roundabout onto the B4361 Bridge Street, and continue northbound. Turn right onto the B4362 Station Road and re-join the A49 at Woofferton junction.
  • Southbound Traffic – Leave the A49 at Woofferton, turning right onto the B4362 Station Road. Turn left onto the B3461, and continue southbound. Then turn left at the roundabout onto the A44 Mill Street, and re-join the A49 at Mill Street (‘OK Diner’) Roundabout.
