We’re making journeys better in the Midlands by operating, maintaining and modernising major A roads and motorways – delivering a big government investment programme.
We are carrying out essential drainage work on the A49 at the following locations:
- Church Stretton to Little Stretton Drainage
- Marshbrook to Little Stretton Drainage
- Felhampton Drainage
- Wistanstow Drainage
We will improve the drainage system and replace collapsed drains and manhole covers.
This will help to reduce the potential risk of flooding on the carriageway.
We will carry out work overnight from Monday to Friday using both traffic signals and full carriageway closures when needed.
There will be no restrictions during the day.
For information on road closures, check the roadworks finder.
We will put in place clearly signed diversion routes during any necessary closures, which we have agreed with Herefordshire and Shropshire County Councils. We’d advise all motorists to stick to the signed diversion routes as they have been chosen with both suitability and safety in mind.
We’d also encourage drivers to stick to speed limits and follow appropriate signage to ensure the safety of those working on site and fellow road users.
We will do our very best to complete the work as quickly as possible, keeping disturbances and noise to a minimum.
