A404 Marlow footbridge refurbishment

Guy Harrington

Work to the footbridge which crosses over the A404 near Marlow in Buckinghamshire, which will involve refurbishing the staircases and applying a new paint to the steel elements of the structure which will protect it from corrosion and extend its lifespan.

For safety reasons the footbridge will be removed for approximately six weeks. To do this the northbound and southbound carriageways of the A404 between the junction with the A4155 just outside Marlow and the Bisham Roundabout will be closed over two non-consecutive weekends. Parkway, which runs parallel with the A404, will remain open over the weekend period; however, we’ll need to close it for periods of up to 15 minutes on Saturday while the crane is lifting the bridge and staircases. These closures will be controlled by stop/go boards.

An alternative route for pedestrians who would normally use the bridge to get between Marlow and Westhorpe Park will be provided between August and October 2018. The route will go via Parkway and the Westhorpe Interchange.
