Why we need this scheme

We are planning to widen the slip roads at junction 23 on the M5. The junction currently suffers from queueing and delays at peak hours and seasonal times. We aim to improve this by increasing capacity at the junction.

The aims of this scheme are to:
  • reduce congestion at the junction
  • support economic growth in the Sedgemoor district
