Progress report

We recently asked for your opinions on our three proposed options to improve the junction. The consultation was held from 19 June to 12 September. The three options were:
  • option 1: partial signalisation roundabout
  • option 2: left in/left out (no right turn from the local roads)
  • option 3: signalised junction
The public consultation report for Bisham Roundabout Improvement is now available to view. We would like to thank the local residents, stakeholders and road users who took part in the consultation. We received a total of 659 responses over the 12 week consultation period and they included comments and views on the options proposed and ideas on alternative approaches. These were very helpful to us in determining the way forward with improvements at the junction.

What next?

We are currently considering the response to the consultation. This will help to inform our decision on which option to take forward.

Why we need this scheme

The Bisham roundabout is located on the A404 between Marlow and Maidenhead. The A404 links the M40 at junction 4 (Handy Cross) with the M4 at junction 8/9 (Maidenhead). Drivers experience high levels of congestion and delays daily. It is already operating at or above capacity on a regular basis.

Aims

By improving the Bisham roundabout we aim to:
  • relieve congestion at the roundabout
  • improve road user safety and reduce accidents at the junction and on the approaches
  • improve traffic flows
  • improve user movement through the junction
  • facilitate local economic growth
