East Midlands: work on the M1 junctions 23a to 25

We have some important road improvement measures and schemes scheduled for delivery over the next 3 years between junctions 23a to 25 of the M1. These road schemes have strategic importance because they will help support economic growth across the region and the entire country.

There is a strong manufacturing focus in the East Midlands and this the area plays a major role in helping move goods across the country and into Europe. The M1 is a vital route within the East Midlands motorway network. Supporting this economic growth through our road schemes and maintenance work is vital.

The schemes will:

  • improve transport links - this will make the region an attractive location for future business investment and in turn boost the regional economy
  • result in safer and more reliable journeys
  • create a number of jobs that will benefit future generations

We realise that delivering such a large investment will mean temporary disruption and increased roadworks. We are working hard to complete this work as quickly as possible, to minimise disruption and to keep the East Midlands moving. Thank you for your patience while we carry out this work.
