Overview

We’re carrying out concrete repairs to the Tidmarsh Road bridge which spans the M4 and upgrading the barrier which protects vehicles from impacting the bridge.In order to carry out this work, it will involve accessing the bridge from the M4.  The details of these works are below:-

Preliminary Works

From Friday 26 February 2021 for six weeks, work will include the installation of a safety barrier to create safe working areas and surfacing work to the hard shoulders in both directions.

To undertake these works safely we will be closing lanes 1 and 2 overnight in both directions of the M4 between junctions 12 -13. This will be from Monday to Friday between 9.00pm and 6.00am.

Main Works

To allow us to carry out the repair to the centre pier of the bridge, we will be installing narrow lanes on the M4 between junctions 12-13 in both directions, with a 50mph speed limit. Free recovery will be available.

Overnight Closures

From Monday 12 April 2021, for two nights, the eastbound carriageway between junctions 13-12 of the M4 will be closed to install narrow lanes which will run with a 50mph speed limit.

From Wednesday 14 April 2021 for two nights the westbound carriageway between junctions 12-13 of the M4 will be closed to install narrow lanes which will run with a 50mph speed limit.

Diversion

Westbound traffic at M4 junction 12 will be diverted via Bath Road, London Road, A339, A34 to re-join M4 junction 13.

Eastbound traffic at M4 junction 13 will be diverted via A34, A339, London road, Bath Road to re-join M4 junction 12.
