Project information

Overview

We are carrying out improvements along the A31 between the Roundhouse Roundabout (Sturminster Marshall) and Red Post (Anderson), to address reoccurring flooding along the carriageway.

Work will involve vegetation clearance, new drainage French drains, new gullies, new outfalls, improved verge edge channels and reprofiling the edge of the carriageway and road surface.

The A31 east and westbound carriageways will be closed between the Bere Regis roundabout and the Roundhouse Roundabout (Sturminster Marshall) overnight between 9pm and 6am (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via the A35 and A350.

Please note overnight closures are currently not scheduled to take place between 4 and 22 January 2021 due to utility works located near Blandford St Mary, where the A31 will be used as part of the diversion route.

These improvements will aim to improve flood resistance, increase drainage capacity and ensure safety of road users and the local community.
