A52 Dunkirk to QMC (west side) cycle route improvements
Work to upgrade and widen the pedestrian and cycle path along Nottingham University, making the layout consistent along the whole route.
Project information
This section of pedestrian and cycle path is one of the busiest on Highways England’s roads in the East Midlands. It is a key route to access Nottingham University and the Queens Medical Centre (QMC) hospital. Once upgraded, this will also be part of Nottingham’s key cycle routes.
We have applied for funding to progress the scheme into the Detailed Design phase. We are hopeful that we will receive confirmation that our application has been successful, and we have secured the money we need, in the near future.
We want to make sure that our road network is fit for cyclists and pedestrians. The current layout does not meet the latest standards. We want to bring this route up to modern standards to make it easier for cyclists and pedestrians to use. This will contribute towards a connected, comfortable, attractive and high-quality cycling network, suitable and safe for use by people of all ages and abilities.
The aim of this scheme is to create a high-quality cycle and pedestrian route that is safe, direct, connected, comfortable and attractive.
