    Commonplace survey now closed

Thank you to everyone who took part in our commonplace survey. We had a great response and your contribution provided a valuable insight into the issues that users are experiencing along this route. Where possible we have incorporated your feedback into our preliminary design, including your suggestions to:

    • widen the footway
    • remove obstructions, such as traffic signs
    • improve facilities in the area of Science Road junction

We have applied for funding to progress the scheme into the Detailed Design phase. We are hopeful that we will receive confirmation that our application has been successful, and we have secured the money we need, in the near future.

Once we have this confirmation, the Detailed Design phase is programmed to be completed during the 2020 - 2021 financial year.

Project information

Overview

This section of pedestrian and cycle path is one of the busiest on Highways England’s roads in the East Midlands. It is a key route to access Nottingham University and the Queens Medical Centre (QMC) hospital. Once upgraded, this will also be part of Nottingham’s key cycle routes.

We have applied for funding to progress the scheme into the Detailed Design phase. We are hopeful that we will receive confirmation that our application has been successful, and we have secured the money we need, in the near future.

We want to make sure that our road network is fit for cyclists and pedestrians. The current layout does not meet the latest standards. We want to bring this route up to modern standards to make it easier for cyclists and pedestrians to use. This will contribute towards a connected, comfortable, attractive and high-quality cycling network, suitable and safe for use by people of all ages and abilities.

The aim of this scheme is to create a high-quality cycle and pedestrian route that is safe, direct, connected, comfortable and attractive.
