    Resurfacing work - August 2020

Work on the junction started in November 2019 and planned completion is scheduled for October 2020.

Upcoming road and lane closures are planned during August 2020 to enable resurfacing works around the junction to take place.

A combination of lane and full carriageway closures will be in place throughout August to enable resurfacing works around the junction to take place. Traffic management will remain in place for the duration of the closures.

We will provide information through advanced warning signs ahead of works starting, with clearly signed diversions in place for any full closures.

Noise barriers will be introduced to help significantly reduce noise emissions and equipment with lower noise emissions has also been identified during the design process.

See the 'General information' document in the Project background section below for answers to some frequently asked questions.

Project information

Proposed improvements include changes to traffic signal control to improve traffic flow through the junction, an additional lane on the roundabout to increase capacity and an additional lane on the M25 northbound exit slip to increase capacity. This work will lead to a more free-flowing network, with reduced congestion and more reliable journey times.

The M25 junction 13 is controlled by traffic signals, and is where the M25, A30 Staines Bypass and B376 meet. Junction 13 is operating over its design capacity, which leads to congestion, queuing traffic and journey delays during peak hours.

These improvements will deliver safer and more reliable journeys for our customers, and manage the ever-increasing volume of traffic using the M25.
