A5036 Park Lane Footbridge
A major project to replace Park Lane footbridge in Sefton is planned. Located at the junction with the A5036 Dunnings Bridge Road, the footbridge provides a vital crossing point for the community. The existing bridge was constructed in 1968, and now needs large amounts of repairs.
Project information
Park Lane footbridge is located at the junction with the A5036 Dunnings Bridge Road in Sefton. The footbridge provides a vital crossing point for the local community and amenities such as Our Lady of Walsingham Primary School.
We’ve considered many options, while bearing in mind the inevitable disruption to the local community and road users. We believe the best option is to replace the bridge completely. It’s the quickest, most practical and safest option.
Since the existing bridge was constructed in 1968, there have been changes to design standards. The new footbridge will reflect these changes, ensuring we will comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (1995 and 2005).
The footbridge will ensure safe access in maintained over the A5036 and local communities. In addition to this, the footbridge will also include some improved features, such as:
- ramps providing step-free access
- a taller bridge barrier, improving safety for cyclists
