We have a duty to consider the impact of our roads on the surrounding environment as part of all new schemes
Through our infrastructure design we'll be respectful of place.
Where necessary we'll relocate historic and cultural assets or replace floodplains.
We'll look for opportunities to improve our environmental performance, for example improving our understanding of why litter is discarded and developing measures to change behaviour. Less litter will also reduce the time that road workers spend on busy carriageways, improving their safety.
